The Patrol is a volunteer-led Liverpool team. We’re already out in the city centre, parks and public spaces, and wherever people ask us for help — looking out for people, offering reassurance and reporting concerns to the right services.

We patrol safely in trained groups, with clear boundaries and no special powers. Now we want to help more Liverpool people use the experience, structure and support we’ve built to look after the places they know best.

Start with local people who care about where they live. We help turn that shared concern into a dependable team with a clear purpose, agreed standards and an experienced Team Leader.

Train and prepare

Every volunteer learns how to patrol safely, support vulnerable people appropriately, recognise risk, keep useful records and stay firmly within the limits of the role.

Support the team

We provide the framework, guidance and ongoing support. Local teams know when to step back, when to call 999 and when to report or refer concerns to the appropriate professional service.

Responsible local patrols

Trained, grouped and clear on the limits.

Each shift is briefed, follows an agreed route and has an experienced Team Leader. Volunteers have no special powers: nobody patrols alone, and when a situation is unsafe the group steps back and calls the professionals.

Practical support

We help local teams prepare properly.

Training is only part of being ready. We also share what we've learned about the practical things worth thinking about on shift — staying in touch, a torch, basic first aid, a charged phone, simple welfare bits — so each local team can work out what it needs. The aim is a prepared, connected group that knows its boundaries and can ask the right service for help.
